Basic Tools Required
The trowel is used to transport the Mortar from the board to the wall, it is also used to make a joint on the brick. Trowels come in all shapes and sizes, patterns most widely used are London pattern and Philadelphia pattern (pictured) Popular sizes are 10,11,12 inch. and can come right or left handed due to one side being toughened so it is possible to strike the brick. for a decent trowel it can cost between £20-60. for added comfort you can now buy with soft grip handles as opposed to wood or leather bound handles.
